⛪ 교회 = 敎 teach + 會 gathering: a teaching assembly
교 (敎) is the teach of 교사 teacher and 교육 education; 회 (會) is the meet of 회사 company and 회의 meeting. A church is literally a gathering where doctrine is taught. Same hanja as Chinese 教会 and Japanese 教会 (kyōkai).
