📖 課 = 言 speech + 果 result: a lesson is what the talking produces
The hanja 課 pairs 言 (speech) with 果 (fruit, result), and 果 is also read gwa in Korean, so the sound is built into the character. Same root as Chinese kè and Japanese ka. You meet it in 제1과 (Lesson 1) and 과제 (assignment).
