✈️ 空港 = empty/sky (공) + harbor (항): a harbor for the sky
공 (空) means sky or empty, as in 공기 (air) and 공간 (space). 항 (港) means harbor, as in 항구 (port). Planes dock at a sky-harbor just as ships dock at a sea-harbor, the same logic as English air + port.
