Same hanja as Chinese jiànkāng and Japanese kenkō. 건 (健) means strong or sturdy, as in 건전 (sound, wholesome); 강 (康) means well or at ease. Strong plus well: health. Say it geon-gang, with two g sounds like a body going and going.
