🏠 軒 = eaves: count houses by their eaves, one ken per roof
軒 on its own is noki, the eaves of a roof. Each building has its own eaves, so counting eaves counts buildings: 一軒 (ikken) one house, 二軒 (niken) two. Also used for shops and restaurants.
