~にくい

~にくい · ~nikui · JLPT N4 · noun

bash

nikui = 憎い, hateful: a verb you hate doing is hard to do

Attach to the verb stem: 食べにくい = hard to eat, 読みにくい = hard to read. It comes from 憎い (nikui, hateful, detestable), so the action is literally hateful to do. Opposite is ~やすい, easy to do.
