nado = and so on; the list trails off: A, B, nado

など comes from older なにと (nani-to, what-and), worn down to nado. So it literally tags a list with and-whatnot. Attach it after the last item named: 本など = books et cetera. Sound hook: nado is NOT all — more items exist.
