📍 ところ literally means place: verb + ところ = at the point of doing it
ところ (所) is the everyday word for place. Grammar reuses it for a point in time: dictionary form + ところ means about to do it, as in 出かけるところ, I'm just about to head out. The verb form you put before it tells you which point in the action you mean.
