鼻
はな · hana · JLPT N5 · noun
nose
👃 hana: same sound as flower (花) — the nose is what smells the hana
Japanese has two common words pronounced hana: 鼻 (nose) and 花 (flower). Link them by function: a hana smells a hana. The kanji 鼻 has 自 on top, which originally meant nose and now means self — people in Japan point to their nose to mean me.
