🍽️ 飢 = 食 food + 几 a small bare table: a table with no food, so you starve
The left side of 飢 is the food radical 食, and 几 is a low table. Remember it as food that is missing from the table. Same sound as 植える (ueru, to plant): you plant 植 so that you will not starve 飢.
