返す
かえす · kaesu · JLPT N5 · verb-godan
to return something
📦 返 = movement radical 辶 + 反 (reverse): send it back the way it came
Kaesu is the transitive partner of kaeru (帰る/返る, to go back): the -su ending means you make something go back. So kaeru = return yourself, kaesu = return an object to its owner.
