輸出
ゆしゅつする · yushutsusuru · JLPT N4 · noun
export
🚢📦 輸出 = transport + go out: goods shipped out of the country
輸 (yu) means to transport and 出 (shutsu) means to go out, so the compound is literally transport-out. Its opposite swaps one character: 輸入 (yunyuu) = transport + enter = import. Adding する makes it the verb to export.
出 — foot 止 emerging from enclosure 凵
出 is a pictograph showing a foot or plant stepping out of a hollow or enclosure, depicting the act of going forth. The original sense of 'coming out' or 'emerging' has remained stable since oracle bone script. It now broadly means 'to exit, go out, or produce.'
