蹴る

ける · keru · JLPT N3 · verb-godan

to kick

🦵⚽ 蹴 = 足 foot + 就 go toward: your foot goes toward the ball

The kanji 蹴 has the foot radical 足 on the left, so it is an action done with the foot. The right side 就 means to go toward. A foot moving toward something is a kick. Keru also sounds a bit like the start of kerplunk, the noise of a kicked ball.
