💬 話題 = talk + title: the title of a talk, so its topic
話 (wa) means talk or story, as in 会話 conversation. 題 (dai) means title or theme, as in 問題 problem. Put them together and you get what people are talking about: the topic. 話題の映画 means a movie everyone is talking about.
