討つ

⚔️ 討 = 言 words + 寸 hand: first denounce, then strike
Sounds the same as 打つ (to hit) and 撃つ (to shoot): all three are utsu, and all three are strikes. 討 adds 言 (speech), so it is a strike with a stated reason, as in 敵を討つ, to avenge yourself on an enemy.
