縄
なわ · nawa · JLPT N3 · noun
rope
🪢 糸 thread + 黽 sound part: threads twisted together make a rope
The left side 糸 is the thread radical, used in many kanji about string and cloth. The right side 黽 mostly gives the sound. Sound hook: nawa sounds like now, uh: Now, uh, grab the rope! Seen in 縄跳び (nawatobi), skipping rope.
