編む

あむ · amu · JLPT N2 · verb-godan

to knit

🧶 編 has the thread radical 糸: you knit threads, or words, as in 編集 editing

The left side 糸 means thread. The same kanji means compiling and editing, as in 編集 (henshū), which is knitting words into a whole. Sound hook: amu sounds like a mu, so a ball of wool gives a long mu as the needles work.
