経つ
たつ · tatsu · JLPT N3 · verb-godan
(time) passes
⏳ 経 = warp threads running through a loom; time runs through too
The kanji 経 first meant the lengthwise warp threads on a loom, which run straight through the cloth. It came to mean pass through, as in 経験 (experience). 経つ is used only for time: 三年経った, three years passed.
