立場
たちば · tachiba · JLPT N3 · noun
point of view
🧍 立場 = stand + place: the place where you stand
立 (tatsu) means to stand, and 場 (ba) means place. Your tachiba is the spot you stand on, which is why it also means your viewpoint or your situation, as in someone else's tachiba.
立 — person standing on ground (大 over 一)
Pictograph of a person standing with arms outstretched on the ground line below. The original oracle bone form clearly shows a frontal human figure planted on the earth. The core meaning 'to stand' extended to 'establish, set up, erect.'
