🍬 甘 ama = sweet + yakasu = treat as: to treat too sweetly, so to spoil
甘い (amai) means sweet. The -yakasu ending turns a quality into a way of treating someone, as in 冷やかす (hiyakasu, to tease, from cold). Spoiling someone is giving them too much sweetness.
