溶ける

とける · tokeru · JLPT N3 · verb-ichidan

to melt

🧊💧 溶 = 氵 water + 容 to hold: water takes it in, so it melts or dissolves

Sound hook: tokeru sounds like took a rue, as in the ice cube took a rueful turn and ran. 解ける, read the same way, means to come untied: in both, something solid comes loose.
