満ちる

みちる · michiru · JLPT N3 · verb-ichidan

to be full

🌕🌊 満 means full, as in 満月 full moon and 満点 full marks

Often said of tides: 潮が満ちる, the tide comes in. It also means a term or time running its full course, which gives the sense to mature. Its opposite is 欠ける, to wane, as the moon does.
