済ませる
すませる · sumaseru · JLPT N3 · verb-ichidan
to be finished
🧾 済む sumu (to be settled) + -aseru (make it) = make it done; sounds like sum it up
済む means a matter is settled or over, and -aseru makes someone bring that about. The kanji 済 shows up as 'paid' on receipts (支払済). Using it is like adding up the bill and settling it: sum it up, and it's done.
