泊める

とめる · tomeru · JLPT N3 · verb-ichidan

to have someone stay (over night) (v.t.)

🛏️🏠 Same sound as 止める (to stop): you stop a guest for the night

泊 is the 'overnight' kanji in 宿泊 (lodging) and 泊まる (to stay over). 泊める is the transitive form: you are the host who lets someone stay. It sounds just like 止める, to stop, so think of it as stopping a traveller at your door for one night.
