many

⛰️ 沢山 = swamp + mountain: enough to fill a marsh and pile up a mountain

The kanji are ateji (chosen for sound), but they give a handy hook: 沢 swamp + 山 mountain, two things that come in huge amounts. Sound hook: takusan sounds like 'tons, son' — taku-SAN, tons of it.

山 — pictograph of three mountain peaks
山 is one of the oldest pictographs in Chinese, originally drawn in oracle bone script as three pointed peaks rising from a baseline. The form was simplified over time into the modern three vertical strokes on a base. Its meaning has stayed remarkably stable: 'mountain' or 'hill'.
