決行
けっこう · kekkou · JLPT N3 · na-adj
carrying out
🏁 決行 = decide + go: once decided, you go ahead and do it
決 means decide or resolve, as in 決定 (decision). 行 means go or carry out, as in 実行 (execution). Together they mean carrying out a plan with resolve, even despite obstacles. Same sound as 結構 (fine), but a different word.
行 — crossroads pictograph (left 彳 + right 亍)
行 originally pictured a four-way crossroads in oracle bone script, with two paths meeting. From 'road' it extended to 'walk, go, travel,' and then to 'a row, line' or 'business firm' (read háng). The two halves 彳 and 亍 are the split sides of that ancient crossroads.
