永遠

えいえん · eien · JLPT N3 · noun

eternity

⏳ 永遠 = forever + far away: time stretching endlessly into the distance

永 means long-lasting or forever (as in 永久, permanent), and 遠 means far or distant (as in 遠い, tōi). Put together, eternity is time that goes on forever and reaches farther than anything. Sound hook: eien, say it twice, A-N, A-N, again and again.
