橋

はし · hashi · JLPT N5 · noun

bridge

橋 — bridge

🌉 橋 = wood (木) + tall arch (喬): a tall wooden span — hashi links two shores

The left part 木 means wood; the right part 喬 means tall and gives the on-reading kyō. Hashi also means chopsticks (箸) and edge (端) — a bridge joins two edges, as chopsticks join plate and mouth.
