📚 書物 = write (書) + thing (物): a written thing, i.e. books
書 (sho) means writing, as in 書く to write and 辞書 dictionary. 物 (motsu) means thing, as in 荷物 luggage and 食べ物 food. A written thing is a book. 書物 is the more formal, literary word; everyday speech uses 本.
