🧳🗺️ 旅 = a flag plus people under it: troops marching off on a journey
Oracle-bone 旅 showed people walking under a banner, which meant an army on the move. The left side 方 still holds the flagpole. Later the meaning widened from a marching troop to any trip. たび is the native Japanese word, as in 旅に出る (set out on a journey).
