帰す
かえす · kaesu · JLPT N3 · verb-godan
to send back
🏠 帰 = return home, so 帰す = make someone return home: send them back
帰 is the kanji in 帰る (kaeru, to go home). The transitive 帰す sends a person home, e.g. dismissing students early. Its homophone 返す (also kaesu) is for returning objects, like a borrowed book.
