🐈 尾 = 尸 body + 毛 fur: the furry bit at the back of a body is the tail
尸 is a body bent over, and 毛 is hair or fur, so the kanji is fur growing from the rear end. On its own it is read お, as in 尾根 (おね), a mountain ridge that trails off like a tail.
