🏟️ 出場 = go out (出) + venue (場): stepping out onto the field to take part

出 means to go out or appear, 場 means place or venue. Together: appearing at the venue, i.e. taking part in a match, contest or show. Its opposite is 欠場 (absence from the event), and 退場 is leaving the venue.

出 — foot 止 emerging from enclosure 凵
出 is a pictograph showing a foot or plant stepping out of a hollow or enclosure, depicting the act of going forth. The original sense of 'coming out' or 'emerging' has remained stable since oracle bone script. It now broadly means 'to exit, go out, or produce.'
