出す
だす · dasu · JLPT N5 · verb-godan
to take out
📤 出 = out, so 出す = make it go out; dasu sounds like: da-su, there, it's out
出 means out or exit; the す ending makes it transitive, so you are the one putting something out. Taking a pen out of a bag and handing in homework are both 出す. Its partner 出る (deru) is when something goes out by itself.
出 — foot 止 emerging from enclosure 凵
出 is a pictograph showing a foot or plant stepping out of a hollow or enclosure, depicting the act of going forth. The original sense of 'coming out' or 'emerging' has remained stable since oracle bone script. It now broadly means 'to exit, go out, or produce.'
