全部

ぜんぶ · zenbu · JLPT N5 · noun

all

全部 = whole (全) + part (部): every part, the whole lot

全 means complete or whole, as in 安全 and 全国. 部 means a section or part, as in 部分 and 部屋. Put together: all the parts, with none left out. Sound hook: zenbu is the zen of having the whole bunch.

全 — enter 入 on top + jade 玉
Originally written as 入 (enter) over 玉 (jade), depicting a complete, unflawed piece of jade kept in storage. From this image of a perfect jade came the meanings 'whole,' 'complete,' and 'entire.' The top component is sometimes written as 人.

部 — 阝(邑) right + 咅 phonetic
The right-side 阝 derives from 邑 (city/settlement), giving the meaning of a region, district, or administrative division. The left side 咅 supplies the sound. Originally referring to a settlement, the meaning broadened to 'part,' 'section,' or 'ministry.'
