🏆 優秀 = excellent + outstanding: two praise words stacked, so top-notch
優 is person 亻 + 憂 (care): someone who takes care to do things well. 秀 is grain 禾 with a stalk that grows above the rest. Together they mean standing above the others. You will hear 優秀な学生 for an excellent student.
