🩹 傷 = wound; itameru shares a root with itai (ouch!), so to make it hurt
傷 means wound or scratch, as in 傷口 (kizuguchi, a cut). The sound itameru comes from the same root as 痛い itai, painful. Compare 痛める (also itameru), to hurt your body; 傷める leans toward damaging things, like food or furniture.
