ベルト — apparel

ベルト is just the English word belt in katakana: be-ru-to

Japanese has no L sound and doesn't allow a consonant at the end of a word, so belt turns into be-ru-to: the L becomes ru and a closing o is added after the t. Western loanwords are written in katakana, which is why it isn't hiragana.
