⚖️ guramu = gram, with u added after g and m to fit Japanese syllables
A loanword from French gramme, written in katakana. Japanese cannot end a syllable in g or m, so each gets a u: g-ra-m becomes gu-ra-mu. Say it fast and the English word gram is still clearly audible.
