Used with a negative verb: なんとも ない = 'not at all' / 'nothing'. Think 'nan' + 'to mo' = 'and also not'.

なんとも is 'nan' (what) + 'to mo' (even/also). With a negative verb it means 'nothing / not a bit', e.g. なんともない = 'I'm fine, nothing's wrong'.
