なにも

なにも · nanimo · JLPT N3 · expression

nothing

なに (what) + も (even): with a negative verb, not even a what = nothing

なに is the question word 'what'; も means 'even' or 'also'. With a negative verb, 'even what... not' becomes 'nothing at all': なにもない = there is nothing. Same pattern: だれも (nobody), どこも (nowhere).
