おる = いる with the vowel lowered: i drops to o, and you lower yourself too
おる (居る) is the humble twin of いる, to be or exist for people. Same kanji, same meaning, but you use it for yourself to sound modest, most often as おります. Swap the first vowel and you bow in speech.
