🍶 酿造 = 酿 ferment + 造 make: to make a drink by fermenting
酿 carries the 酉 wine-jar radical, the same one in 酒 (jiǔ, alcohol), so it always points to fermenting. Pair it with 造 (zào, to make) and you get the act of making wine, vinegar, or soy paste through fermentation.
造 — 辶 (walk) + 告 (tell/announce)
造 combines the walking radical 辶 with 告 (announce), which also gives the sound. Originally it meant 'to go and report to,' then 'to reach' or 'arrive at.' Over time the meaning shifted to 'to make' or 'to build,' the sense most common today.
