警官

jǐng guān · HSK 7

police officer

👮 警 (police) + 官 (official) = a police official, i.e. a constable

警 carries the sense of alert/police (as in 警察), and 官 means official or officer. Stack them and you get the ranking officer of the police: a constable. The guān in 官 is the same official found in many job titles.

官 — roof 宀 + mound/many 㠯
Originally a pictograph showing a building (roof 宀) over stacked mounds or seats (㠯), depicting an official residence or government office. The meaning extended from the building itself to the officials who worked there, and then broadly to 'official' or 'government.'
