肩膀

jiānbǎng · HSK 7

shoulder

肩膀 = 肩 (shoulder) + 膀: flesh radical 月 + 旁 side = the fleshy side-part, your shoulder

Both characters point at the same body part. 肩 already means shoulder; 膀 reinforces it with the 月 flesh radical plus 旁 (side), literally the fleshy bit off to the side. Pinyin jiānbǎng: jiān like the start of giant, bǎng rhymes with bong.

肩 — 户 (door) on top + 月 (flesh/meat) below
肩 means 'shoulder.' The bottom 月 is the flesh radical, marking it as a body part. The top originally depicted the rounded shape of a shoulder joint, later standardized as 户. Together they show a fleshy, hinged body part — the shoulder.
