an eraser
🧼 橡 rubber-tree + 皮 skin = the skin of the rubber tree, i.e. rubber; an eraser
橡 means the rubber tree (also oak), 皮 means skin or hide. Rubber is the tree's tapped sap-skin, and an eraser is a little block of that rubber. Note the second syllable pí is rising tone, same 皮 as in leather.
皮 — hand 又 stripping hide off animal
皮 is a pictograph showing a hand (又) peeling the skin or hide off an animal carcass. The original meaning was 'animal hide' or 'to flay,' which broadened over time to mean skin, leather, or any outer covering or surface.
