厌烦

bored
😤 厌 detest + 烦 annoyed = doubly done with it: bored and fed up
Both halves push the same way: 厌 is to loathe or be sated to the point of disgust, and 烦 is to be vexed or bothered. Stack them and you get the worn-out we when you have had way too much of something.
烦 — fire 火 + page/head 页
烦 combines 火 (fire) with 页 (head), depicting a feverish or burning head. The original sense was a headache caused by fever, which extended metaphorically to mental distress, irritation, and being bothered. Today it commonly means annoyed, troublesome, or vexed.
