传出
chuán chū · HSK 6
to transmit outwards
📡 传 = transmit + 出 = out → transmit outward
Compound: 传 (chuán, pass/transmit) + 出 (chū, out/exit). Literally pass-out, i.e. send outward. Used for broadcasting news, spreading rumors, and in anatomy for efferent nerves carrying signals away from the center.
传 — person radical 亻 + 专 (zhuān)
Originally a phono-semantic compound: 亻 (person) gives the meaning 'to pass on' between people, while 専/专 supplied the sound. Early uses referred to relay stations and messengers carrying word from place to place, which broadened to today's senses of transmitting, spreading, and handing down (as in tradition or biography).
出 — foot 止 emerging from enclosure 凵
出 is a pictograph showing a foot or plant stepping out of a hollow or enclosure, depicting the act of going forth. The original sense of 'coming out' or 'emerging' has remained stable since oracle bone script. It now broadly means 'to exit, go out, or produce.'
